Syllabus

 

1. Asana

The asana training includes the study and practice of 50 + 34 various yoga postures, their correct alignment and anatomical principles, modifications and variations, the art of sequencing asanas for different purposes, adjustments and assists, use of props for support, understanding the therapeutic benefits of each pose, cultivating mindfulness and breath awareness during practice, and developing the ability to lead and guide others in a safe and effective asana practice.

This comprehensive training in Asana is aimed to achieve one of the highest possibilities at the level of body i.e. to stay still, silent and restful in it. Concepts of ‘effort’, ‘relaxation of effort’ and the ‘cessation of disturbances by duality’ is dealt is detail for complete of mastery over body and discipline of mind.

2. Pranayama

3. Meditation

With the help of asana and pranayama the practitioner on the path of yoga finds a point of Concentration within. He moves in the direction of that concentration. When the movement and the point of concentration is dropped meditation begins. Through meditation, the illusion of duality dissolves, and the mind let go of all objects and actions, leading to a state of complete surrender. In this timeless practice of meditation, the essence is not in doing, but in being intensely aware, observing thoughts and sensations with equanimity.

In the course, students will explore key meditation terms gaining insight into the approach of meditation. Special focus will be on Vipassana, one of the most ancient and secular forms of meditation.
