Setting Up Yoga School
Saurabh is the founder and owner of Akshara Yoga School. He inherited the legacy of their third-generation agriculture farm and is one of the farm caretakers. For many years the farm had witnessed a continuous rotation of seasons, sustaining generations with its soil. As time passed, the farm’s caretakers began to feel a deep calling—a yearning to harmonize their agricultural heritage with a sustainable future. Driven by the passion for both the land and holistic living, the farm underwent a remarkable transformation.
Embracing the principles of sustainability, the farm caretakers adopted practices like crop rotation, tree planting, organic fertilizers, and animal husbandry (particularly cows and buffaloes) to enhance soil health, protect biodiversity, and minimize environmental impact. The farm has since become a thriving ecosystem, producing healthy food while safeguarding the environment for future generations.
With a master’s degree in yoga nestled securely within his heart, Saurabh dreamed of creating a yoga school on their sustainable farm, where he could guide others towards the path of happiness through the ancient practice that had touched his own life so profoundly. In the summers of 2015, he travelled to Mysore for further yoga training and it is then when Varvara entered Saurabh’s life. She, too, shared his unwavering belief in the transformative power of yoga and the need to create a sanctuary for genuine seekers.
Together, they built Akshara Yoga School – a modern Ashram that would not just be a school but a sanctuary where people could live, learn, and grow in a nurturing environment. This high-vibration modern Ashram embodies the union of yoga and sustainability, providing a tranquil oasis for those seeking inner peace and holistic well-being.
In this unique setting, students of the yoga school not only practice the ancient art of yoga but also experience firsthand the interconnectedness of all living beings and emerge in the Indian culture and tradition. The farm’s sustainable practices become an integral part of their daily routine, teaching them to live mindfully, respecting the environment, and cherishing the gifts of nature.
