What Makes Our Program Different

What You Will Learn

The 200-hour Hatha Yoga Teacher Training Course provides a strong foundation in classical yoga through six major areas of study:

Yogic Sukshma Vyayama

Learn this completely indigenous set of 48 subtle exercises rooted in ancient yogic wisdom. These practices are based on a sophisticated understanding of the human system and prepare the body and mind for higher practices.

Asana

Develop a deep understanding of 50 classical asanas as tools for cultivating stability, awareness, and radiant health. You will explore how the profound mechanism of asana helps transcend dualities and brings inner equilibrium.

Kriya

Study and practice 4 traditional kriyas for internal purification. You will learn how kriyas prepare your body and mind for deeper experience in asana, pranayama, and meditation, making your overall Hatha Yoga journey more effective and embodied.

Pranayama

Engage in reflective and systematic pranayama practices that expand life force (prana), balance its flow throughout the body, and prepare the mind for deeper meditative states.

Hatha Yoga Philosophy

Understand how the dynamic interplay of Ha (solar) and Tha (lunar) energies influences the body-mind system. The integration of these forces leads to mental stillness and prepares the practitioner for meditation.

Sharpening Teaching Skills

Learn to give clear instructions, offer mindful corrections, and apply safe hands-on adjustments. You will also master sequencing principles and build confidence through real-time teaching practice.

What You Will Gain

Saurabh Chaudhary (M.sc Yoga)

founder of Akshara Yoga School

Our Teaching Approach

Benefit from a grounded, modern approach shaped by wisdom and simplicity.

Rooted in a rural upbringing, our approach is shaped by humility and depth, and strengthened by the yogic education I received at India’s top yoga universities. My quest for knowledge has always been about reaching that turning point, where a person is not just informed, but transformed. What is that moment? What makes it possible for true, lasting change to take root?

That deeper inquiry into the how and why of real transformation is what we convey through our training. Not just techniques, but the inner shifts that make us humble and great. At Akshara, we believe yoga must be taught not from a pedestal, but from an open heart – free from spiritual elitism.

Our classrooms are spaces of safety, sincerity, and curiosity – where every concept can be questioned, explored, and challenged. We honour yogic traditions, yet we do not cling to dogma that obstructs personal growth or wellbeing.

Whether it is asana, philosophy, or pranayama, we teach with awareness that no teacher should impose their beliefs, but rather hold space for students to discover their own truth. We grow with you, not above you.

At Akshara, we don’t just teach yoga – we embody it, with honesty, openness, and the courage to evolve.

Your Journey Through the 200-Hour TTC

Thematic Roadmap of the 200-Hour Hatha Yoga TTC

The purpose of this theme is to help you remain steadfast during course and take stock of your progress.

Yoga Table
Week 1 Week 2 Week 3 Week 4
Asana Sthira (Stable) Chira (Steady) Sukha (Blissful) Dwandva Mukta (Free from Duality)
Pranayama Cleansing Balancing Slowing Down Kevala Kumbhak (Spontaneous Suspension)
Pratyahara Instant relaxation Quick relaxation Deep relaxation Let-go
Dharana Chanchalata (Randomness) Ekagrata (Concentration) Dharana (Focus) Samatva (Equanimity/Balance)
Dhyana Pointed Awareness Linear Awareness Surface Awareness 3D Awareness
Samadhi Abhyasa (Effort) Vairagya (Non-attachment) Chitta Vritti Nirodha (Mind Mastery) Swarupa (One’s True Nature)

The first week is all about grounding yourself – physically, mentally, and emotionally. You will begin to notice how restless and scattered the mind can be. With focused effort, you’ll work on building physical stability and becoming aware of your tendencies and external distractions. This is the week to plant the seeds of inner stillness and cultivate perception at specific points in the body. You will also ease into the rhythms of farm life and build a sense of connection with your teachers and fellow students.

In week two, you will shift from foundation to steadiness. This means balancing your energy and refining your attention. Your practice will become more consistent and conscious. You will start observing the body and breath without clinging to outcomes. As you develop the ability to hold postures with steadiness, one-pointed focus will begin to emerge. This week gently opens the door to inner calm and deeper awareness.

The third week brings a sense of ease, stillness, and introspection. Your body and mind will naturally begin to slow down. This is the beginning of deeper meditative states. You’ll observe your thoughts and emotions without reacting, gaining insight into your inner patterns. This week leads to mastery over the mind by releasing automatic responses, fostering a grounded presence. You’ll begin to feel like a teacher – not just of asana, but of yoga as a whole.

The final week is a time of integration and transcendence. The journey matures into stillness, presence, and clarity. You may feel emotional as your time at the school nears its end. But you will also feel a new lightness – an inner freedom. Your perception deepens into expansive awareness, and your ability to let go becomes a tool for overcoming stress, anxiety, and anger. With equanimity at heart, you begin to live the deeper meaning of yoga – not just as practice, but as a way of life.
