A day in the life of yoga TTC student

At Akshara Yoga School, our Yoga Teacher Training Course (TTC) isn’t just a curriculum, it’s a lifestyle. Surrounded by the quiet rhythm of nature and supported by timeless yogic wisdom, students undergo an immersive journey of learning, transformation, and inner clarity.

Here’s a glimpse into a typical day in the life of a TTC student at Akshara:

Classical Hatha Yoga Practice

The day begins with the rising sun and the scent of earth. As silence wraps the land, students gather for the morning Hatha Yoga session. Guided by traditional instructions, the practice goes beyond the realm of physical fitness.

Asanas are not performed. They are lived with awareness, breath, and stillness. The focus is on cultivating inner discipline, balance, and a deep connection with oneself.

This is yoga as it was meant to be: authentic, mindful, transformative.

Farm-Fresh Breakfast

After the practice, a warm, nourishing breakfast awaits prepared with seasonal, farm-fresh ingredients from our organic kitchen garden. Every meal is satvic, light, and energizing.

Food here is not just nutrition, it’s part of the yogic journey.

Yoga Philosophy: From Misconception to Clarity

Philosophy classes at Akshara are not dry or dogmatic. They are alive.

We explore key concepts from the Yoga Sūtras, Bhagavad Gītā, and traditional wisdom to clear misconceptions about yoga and bring its true meaning into the light. Students are encouraged to question, reflect, and relate teachings to their own life.

Each session is a doorway to deeper understanding and joy.

Cyclic Meditation: A Practice of Balance

Midday sessions feature our unique and deeply impactful practice called Cyclic Meditation.

This guided experience of alternating stimulation and relaxation brings the student into a state of equanimity. It is not just a technique, it’s a direct experience of yoga’s true essence i.e. balance of body, breath, and mind.

In today’s stress-filled world, this practice offers a contemporary and scientific approach to inner calm.

Organic Lunch from the Land

Lunch is a heartfelt offering from our kitchen filled with grains, vegetables, and herbs harvested from our own organic garden. Fresh, wholesome, and cooked with love.

Every bite reminds you of your connection to the earth and your responsibility to live mindfully.

Adjustment & Teaching Methodology

Afternoons are dedicated to learning the art and science of teaching yoga. These sessions are practical, engaging, and rooted in experience.

Students learn how to adjust asanas safely, guide prāṇāyāma practices, build class sequences, and develop confidence as future yoga teachers. It is where theory meets embodiment helping students evolve from practitioners into guides.

Optional Self-Practice or Evening Walks

As the sun begins to set, students often spend time in personal practice, journaling, or walking through the fields. The land itself is a teacher offering silence, grounding, and perspective.

Light Dinner and Rest

Evenings wind down with a light satvic dinner, quiet reflection, or shared laughter with fellow students. And if you are the only student, you may find yourself cherishing the solitude enjoying your own presence and feeling grateful for the rare opportunity of one-on-one attention from your teachers. The day closes gently, allowing the teachings to settle deeply within.
